Wang could have kept the team on Long Island, and don't give the spiel oh Brooklyn is Long Island. Geographically it is, but Nassau and Suffolk have as much in common with Brooklyn as we do with Newark or Philly. I liked the Lighthouse Project and voted for it as did many other people I know. Wang was just as gulity as Kate Murray, he could've scaled back his project, he could've explored Suffolk, even Queens was on the table. Shit I would rather go to Quebec than Brooklyn to see them play.
I do expect the first couple honeymoon years the "faithful" will go to Brooklyn, and state how wonderful everything is blah blah blah...,but by year 5 going to Brooklyn will grow real old for the folks in Nassau and Suffolk.
If forced to root for a city team one might as well switch to an original. At least when you take the LIRR from Hicksville you won't have to transfer at Jamaica, and you'll have plenty of trains out of Penn on the way back.
I wish the Islanders luck. I'll root for you this year, and next when you represent Long Island, but I will have no use, or loyalties for the NY Brooklyn Islanders.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
